How do I recognise a scam?

The vast majority of members are honest, but a few signals should alert you. If you spot one or more, be extra careful.

  • You're asked to pay remotely or to advance “fees” before any handover.
  • An offer is too good to be true: unusually low price, artificial urgency, pressure to close fast.
  • The person refuses to meet in person and invents excuses (abroad, in the military, private courier…).
  • You're sent a link to a fake payment or parcel-tracking site.
  • Typos, inconsistencies or a brand-new account with no history are further clues.

When in doubt, pay nothing, click no links, and go for an in-person handover in a public place.
