A sale between individuals needs no sensitive information. Protect yourself by keeping certain data private.
- Never share your card number, bank details, PIN, or password.
- Don't send a photo of your ID card, passport or driving licence: no genuine sale requires it.
- Don't share a code received by SMS: a fraudster can use it to hijack an account.
- Only give your exact address once the sale is agreed with someone you trust, or prefer a public place.
Stay within the app's messaging as long as possible: it protects you and keeps a record of your exchanges. Be wary of anyone who wants to switch to another channel too quickly.
