Someone asks me to pay in advance: is it a scam?

In the vast majority of cases, yes. Requesting payment in advance is the most common scam across all classifieds platforms.

The warning signs to look for:

  • The seller refuses an in-person handover and insists on shipping the item after payment.
  • You're asked for a deposit to "hold" the listing or to "prove you're serious".
  • Payment has to go through a link sent by message, an instant transfer, a gift card, a cryptocurrency or a money order.
  • The other person invents an urgent story (moving abroad, soldier overseas, a death in the family…).

Important reminder: AllEasyWay handles no payment between members and offers no "secure transaction". Any page promising one in AllEasyWay's name is fraudulent. Never pay for a purchase before you've seen and collected the item in person.
